nbui Hi Folks, i need to remove the Chin but i can't get it off between chin and engine covers. any advice appreciated
ed monahanThere is a clip on one side and a screw on the other side that needs to be removed where the nose piece meets the lower side panels, right at the suspension opening. I can't recall on which side you need to remove the screw. It is visible from the top side.
I don't know if that is the problem you are talking about.

ed monahanI should be able to post pics tomorrow. I bought the nose piece here on POA and it should arrive tomorrow.
ed monahanthe clip is on the passenger side and it looks like 2 screws on the driver's side but maybe the 99 was a little different than the 2002. I will be able to see a little better tomorrow.
The clip and the screws are not connected to the side panel, in spite of what I posted above. They connect the piece below the headlights, in front of the side panels to the nose piece, right at the opening for the suspension.
They connect the upper and lower piece. You can see them with a little mirror and feel them with your fingers but can't see them from above without taking off the headlights. I will take a picture of the nose piece hardware but not on the car. I am not taking off the headlights (or the nose) at this time.
catfishive never seen a screw in it where it joins to the frt lower side panel.it snaps together where the joint is.also remove the side engine panel 3 bolts and dont lose the shims some have them some dont.before unbolting the side panel pay attention to the dr/fdr gap.you will have to realign when reinstalling.the metal clip that is riveted on,must be pryed up to release the frt. facia.you will need a long screw driver to unsnap it.its a very tight fit to unsnap, but it will.pictures, your lucky to see it to unsnap it,if there is a screw in it your screwed.oh yes you will need to remove h/lights also.

ed monahanI don't think you need to take the side panels off but it may make access easier, I don't recall that. The side panels are about a foot away from the nose piece.

I posted back then that there was a screw on it. MDProwler states there are two on it. We'll see tomorrow, hopefully.

Catfish is right there are 2 Clips/snaps on eoither side of the fascia where it joins the the lower front qtr panel. They are a little difficult to get unsnapped, but a well palced small flat screwdriver can be usd to pry up gently on the clips to release their hold on the adjoining panel.
Of course, you have to remove the grill and the headlights. The headlights have 4 attachments , two of them are a little hidden. One is a "plastic nut" underneath the headlight assmbly (see pics), the other is at the rear edge of the headlight and is easily seen after you remove the engine panels. As catfish say, watch your shims on these panels as they will fall out as you remove the panels. You need to note their placement when you reattach the panels.
The nose panel or fascia is held on underneath with two bolts which are easy to remove (see pics). You can remove the fascia with the bumpers still attached if you still have bumpers.

above pic shows the passenger side engine panel removed

This clip in the above pic is at bottom of engine side panel

The screw in the above pic is the rear headlight attachment screw

will post more pics on separate post

catfishoutagas, thanks for the photos.one other thing he can do is to remove top bolts from the lower frt rkr/side panel, this will make the access a little easier, since he can pull it out a little farther.

Yes, That's what I did. removed the top bolts from the lower front qtr panel(s) so you can pull them out a little and have better access to the clips and the suspension if that's where you're headed.

JeraneWYOU GUYS ARE AMAZING!! That is what makes owning a Prowler great. It takes a lot of time to take, label, and post pictues like you have. I hope I never have to replace mine, but it will be great to know we have your support.
ed monahanWell, I guess I am wrong. I got the nose piece today but you can't tell from looking at that piece. No holes in it, however.
I may have to pull off a headlight in the near future to take a look at that.
nbuiThank you very much for all the information about how to remove the chin, i have some scratch under chin i want to paint it over but seem like it very hard to do and i may get it damage, can i just use some kind of big black tape to cover it. what do you think, thank

ed monahanWhat looks worse, the scratches you can't see or the black tape?
Put tape on it, see what it looks like and then pull it back off if it is too bad.
catfishleave it.or get some touchup paint and touchup.jmo it will look worse painted black or with black tape on it.chrysler does not make touchup for cats anymore.you can give your paintcode to a dealer and see if any left.pnt code is on label on lower back of drivers dr.it will say -pnt-the next letters and number is the color code.if you touch up you wont even see it.

nbuiThank every one and with all special pictures i will save all this info for the future use
